Treesize

‘Buddy, you're a drive, make a big mess
Filling up the space, gonna be a full disk someday
You got files on your face, you big disgrace
Eatin’ your gigs all over the place, singin’’

‘We will, we will... Scan you!’

TreeSize is a program that helps you understand how much space on your computer is occupied by which files and folders. It shows you a graphical representation, similar to a tree, of how much space each file and folder takes up, so you can easily see which files or folders take up the most space. This allows you to specifically free up space by deleting or moving unnecessary files.

Simply explained: Imagine that your computer is a house with many rooms (folders) and there are many objects (files) in it. TreeSize shows you how big each room and object is, helping you find room in the house when it gets too crowded. Or imagine you live in a castle and have forgotten in which room all your many boxes were stacked with gold and diamonds. One look with Treesize (Free) is enough, done.

What TreeSize can do:

  • View storage space: It shows you how much space each folder and file on your hard drive takes up.
  • Graphical representation: It presents the data as a tree structure, which increases the clarity.
  • File search: It helps to find large files or specific file types to free up space.
  • Manage storage space: You can delete or move unnecessary files or folders directly from TreeSize.

Why is this useful?

  • Clean up your hard drive: Often you forget what files you have on your hard drive. TreeSize helps to keep track and free up space.
  • Monitor hard disk space: If you regularly analyze your hard drive with TreeSize, you can detect early when space is running out.
  • Optimize storage space: You can specifically search for large files or folders that you may no longer need, and delete or archive them.
  • Find buried or misplaced large data: Large files or folders with a lot of content buried somewhere? Tadaa!

Conclusion:

Without this tool I would have deleted several times either disks on which there were still treasures hidden in a stack of subfolders or I would be desperate in the search for one or the other memory eater. I’m Looking at you Win7 CBS log error! So:

TreeSize gonna put you back into your place, singin’:

‘We will, we will... Scan you!’
